Physical media is forever. Plus, it feels a bit dishonest to enjoy the show and not support it somehow.

That said, Blu-ray or bust. We don't need literal DVD releases.

It's Toei, you support them by buying the toys XD They literally don't care about making money on the video footage since you can just watch it on YouTube with a VPN

Er, what? is SHT posted to YouTube every week?

And while they're fine toys, I don't want them. It's not like I even have the space for them!

I actually buy all the Sentai Blu-Rays, I have virtually everything ToQger onwards, plus a handful of older stuff. I buy them mostly for the extras that I enjoy watching, since those are basically impossible to get otherwise. Plus a significant amount of the *totally legitimate* copies of Blu-Ray rips that you can currently find online, both subbed and unsubbed, come from my Blu-Rays, so I consider that my contribution to the community.

It's why I laugh whenever someone screams "SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL RELEASE" at me. I shudder to think how much I've already spent on Sentai disks...
Seen:
Super Sentai: Fiveman onwards
Kamen Rider: Ichigou-Skyrider, all the Heisei/Reiwa series except the American shows.
Precure: DokiDoki-Go Pri
Metal Heroes: Gavan
Other: Spiderman, Power Rangers

Moved into my own place literally last week, so I finally can display stuff instead of keeping it all in boxes. The house came with almost no furniture, but it did have these shelves. I'm a big physical media guy, as you can probably tell. Got literally every episode of Doctor Who except for last year's 3 episodes (Plus the missing episodes obviously, though I have all the official animations/recons), got most of Sentai post ToQger, plus Gokaiger (And 10 Years After) and Go-Onger (And 10 Years After), and the Kyoryuger movies. Don't have much Rider because I prefer Sentai and it's expensive. So I have Fourze Vol 1-4, Ryuki Episode FINAL, Geiz Majesty, Zi-O Final Stage, and probably a few random others I'm forgetting. Plus some Power Rangers releases, but the UK has been badly serviced by PR releases, and obviously the American ones are the wrong region. I'm fortunate that Japanese DVDs are the same region as Europe, and Toei's Blu-Rays are all region free.

Plus all the physical games on there. The random stuff placed around is because I haven't bothered finding a permanent home for them, as, like I said, I literally moved in last week. Classic Doctor Who I'm slowly replacing the DVDs with the new Blu-Rays. Partly for video quality (though only some stuff was shot on film and even less of it we actually have the original film, so there's not a lot that can be in true HD), but mostly for the new extras, and partly for space reasons, the Blu-Ray box sets are WAY smaller than the DVD releases. I'm buying the standard editions though, not the limited editions, so I unfortunately am lagging about 2 years behind everyone else, cause that's how long the standards usually take to come out after the limited editions.

Tell Toei that. They've been doing DVD box sets of older Sentais recently, when they're begging for Blu-Ray remasters. I'd love to see the Zordon-era Sentais in HD. They did Goranger, and most of the Showa Riders, and the OG Rider is getting a 4K release soon (they did the Showa movies recently and they look gorgeous), plus the Toei Channel airings of Battle Fever, Denziman and Sun Vulcan. All of 20th century Sentai was shot on film (as was Power Rangers up to RPM), so I'd love proper HD remasters, instead of the repackaged DVDs they've been doing recently.

I see those links aren't permanent. I was expecting to see a "not available in your country" message, but instead, got "this video is private" indicating they're even unavailable in Japan. Weird that they aren't doing what Hasbro is doing with PR, and putting the shows on Youtube long term. I guess they care too much about the DVD sales you guys have been discussing?

Japanese media companies have a tendency to use YouTube as more of an extension of TV — they'll only leave the video up for a certain length of time and then take it down. Makes it easier to drum up demand for their physical media sets?

That explains things. I also notice they'll put their commercials on their official YouTube then take them down after a while, which is weird to me since it's not like they have to pay for the server or anything

Toei's been doing it for years, uploading their old shows to YouTube. ToQ 5gou and Deka Pink's actresses used to do live stream watchalongs for their shows being added.

That doesn't even make sense. The shows I get. But literally the point of adverts is to be seen as often as possible.

That sounds cool, I'd watch TOQ 5gou talk about stuff

Maybe it's some kind of copyright paranoia? Really not sure about the reasoning for such practice, since it's just advertisement for your own brand/company
