Yanma sure has a goofy smile
The kings sure spend a lot of time knocked out lately
What happened to the other soldiers? That's Shugoddom, right? Shouldn't Racles's kingdom at least be safe?
Has it been six months since the kings returned? I must know the exact science of Prince's journey to CHikyuu
Does King KyouryuuRed count as an extra warrior in the Ranger chart?
Suddenly we're in a real setting. Why didn't t hey film the whole thing there instead of that CGI mess?
Oh great Gorouge is in this episode
This conversation between Gira and Prince is so awkward
Wait, are the rulers all bandaged up because of their hyper forms?
Why does Racles mask have a breathing device noise when it obviously doesn't cover his mouth/nose. I know he's been king for months, but for the viewer, this is the first time he addresses his people, and the first thing he does is remove his mask
A titan breaking through the city walls? That looks familiar
Good bgm when the rulers rip off their bandages
Days since mecha accidents: 0
Why did you put Gira's face in the mecha?? That was such a weird effect
What? All of that just as a setup for the next episode?
Kind of a disappointing episode. Most of the rulers are out of commission, again. Prince and Gira's interaction largely didn't contribute to the main story. The bad guys use the mass media to trick the people, again. The last few minutes were cool, but don't make up for the rest of the episode

Prince was actually an official cast of King Ohger. They included him in the "Thank you 100,000 Followers" Twitter(X) post. Not even Racles was on there.
But it's such a Hi-and-Bye situation here. Popped in, grabbed Gaybutyra, and buggered out. Such a forced interaction. Is the DX KingGaburiCalibur and Kyoryujin (Full Action Ver) not selling? Love hearing Kyoryuuger's music though.
So, was Gira created by the Space Bugs and given to Shugoddom as a tool? Was the story a half-truth or a totally lie? Dagdedo being able to control him can mean two things. One was that Gira was really his clone, the other being Gira had Kuwagon's soul in him and Dagdedo was actually controlling that soul. Either of these can result in Gira being able to communicate with the Shugods as well.
Shugoddom's citizens' loyalty flip-flop all over the place. Their kingdom is constantly under attack by almost everyone and their ruler never send any solders to defend them, but they'll just worship whoever was on the throne at that moment no problem. Just throw George into the sea.

The bad guys lie so much that it hardly felt like a revelation. Which is kind of bad story telling, if a major character moment has no impact because you revealed it by the liars of the story

JP Twitter was all in a buzz after the episode because everyone had thought that the Rainbow Jururira had something to do with the Shugods or something else but with this revelation it turns out that it's just some ordinary really good dessert.

I just noticed a useless detail. The green eye on King KyouryuRed's dino head insignia got chroma out because they're using a green screen.

You know what else I noticed, this was the perfect chance to use the song Pride and Brave again, but I don't think they did
Re: King-Ohger 40 discussion post
Well, that was an episode.
On the positive side, they finally remembered the damn mecha again - the things the series was named after. And we got some really nice beauty shots of Extreme King-Ohger strolling through the city, which is kind of amusing, because that suit hasn't actually seen all that much use (so often CGI was subbed in).
As I mentioned in last week's thread, the series has treated the mecha very oddly since the start of the Space Bug arc. They're almost never in the story, and we've yet to see them used against any of the Space Bugs thus far (just Jeremie's zombie mother). It's been kind of a glaring omission, really. So I'm glad they're finally part of the story again. And I hope this is building up to something really cool, to justify why we haven't seen what's essentially the Ohgers' trump card for most of the past 3 months.
On the other hand, we got some Grade A flagrant merchandise pimping with Price. The Ohgers' team power-up? There's no toy of that. But Prince's sword and Kyouryuuzin, stuff that's from a series that isn't even King-Ohger? Oh you had better believe there are toys of that. And Bandai would love it if you bought them. (Also, why is Gira using a copy of Prince's sword?)
In all seriousness, I am glad they've wrapped up that dangling thread of Gabutyra just hanging around another planet for the last half-dozen episodes. That did need to be addressed. But at best it was editorial janitorial duty; it was cleaning things up rather than doing something that added to the story. The Kyouryuuger stuff could have easily been replaced with more King-Ohger stuff, and the episode would be no worse for it.
Part of me feels like Bandai gave up on King-Ohger half-way in, in favor of Kyouryuuger Redux. But I'm probably being overly dramatic.
Episodes without a mecha fight: 0 (reset the clock!)
The only real good thing to come out of this is the epic pick-up at the end. But that kind of required the plot to dig itself into a hole first, so it doesn't feel like much of an earned moment.
I'm also kind of tired of Racles in general. He's a cockroach and I love it, but at the same time one can only watch him play out the same basic scheme so much.
In-universe, it's admittedly not as flimsy since they haven't completely revealed the soul thing yet. But still, after Racles' meltdown when he was first defeated, it's hard to buy that more than a few idiots are believing him.

It seems to be the writers' favorite way of getting rid of the other rangers in order to focus on a handful of them. Rather than giving them a pointless B plot, or having them serve as supporting characters to whoever is getting the focus that week. Even after the team finally came together, this series has never been especially strong on being a Sentai; there's a lot of individual action.
It really is such a night-and-day difference in terms of quality. Both with regards to the stunt choreography and how easy it is to follow what's going on.Suddenly we're in a real setting. Why didn't t hey film the whole thing there instead of that CGI mess?

Japan is big on recycling. Plastic? Recycle it! Robo footage? Recycle it! The scripts? Recycle it!A titan breaking through the city walls? That looks familiar
That's my rub as well. Racles is the king of unreliable narrators, so even if we hadn't seen him plotting with Dagdedo to begin with, the whole thing would still be baloney. It's clearly not the true story and the audience has been clued in on it again and again. So it makes the revelation kind of tedious, rather than interesting, because we know it's not true.takenoko wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:51 am >So, was Gira created by the Space Bugs and given to Shugoddom as a tool? What, who's Gorouge?Oh great Gorouge is in this episode
He's the Shugoddom shouty guy. He basically exists just to represent the stupidest people in the kingdoms. On one hand, it's a character that has some development that's not a ruler or directly related to one. On the other hand, like all the other characters in the story, he has his one trait and nothing else. Which is basically just to be obnoxious 24/7
Re: King-Ohger 40 discussion post
Oh, that guy! Well I will at least give Toei this much credit: he certainly is memorable.takenoko wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:44 amWhat, who's Gorouge?Oh great Gorouge is in this episode

How the hell did Prince get here? Isn't Plezuon supposed to be in deep space with King and Ucchi? Does this confirm we're not gonna be seeing the two of them at any point this year? Sad if true
