I guess I never realized how similarly Gira's royal top is to Racles's
Oh I get it. Gira calls himself the evil king as a game. But Racles was acting like an evil king for his greater purpose. Deep
lol. Is this episode going to be all about how Gira messed up his brother's plans to save the world?
When did Racles and Suzume get married? I thought Racles died when they were still engaged?
Hey Racles, why'd you put the message in a ring instead of just saying that Suzume, you weirdo
Okay, so Racles being an idiot and acting like a villain was a performance to fool the people. They do this trick so often in this series, but this is the first time that it hasn't been stupid
Oh Suzume disguised as a kuroko. Neat!
Ooh, the scene with lord bee and the needle. Was that for this? I must have assumed it was a dropped plot point before
Hey a poison that makes you appear dead. Just like Romeo and Juliet
Man we don't get enough Suzume being a plotter
Dagededo's wings are gloved hands. Silly
When did Gira get wings??
I'm familiar with the songs from this series now. Inferno is a real banger, check it out if you get a chance
What was that in the explosion? Dagdedo's real form?
Hey, the sentai haven't really been around these last couple episodes, but for once, for good reason. The Racles Gira thing is genuinely pretty good, and they sentai did get a chance to save him at the end
Oh, hmmm
Edit: You know, as a translator, the more fun I have when writing dialogue, the more I think the script is probably pretty good. And I had fun writing this one, although I felt like I had to also be very careful. (There's also a lot of lines lifted from other episodes, so it also meant looking through old scripts to make sure they line up)

Is there a reason why Gira and Racles doesn't use family name first?

Because we're in Fantasy Pseudo Europe-ish Earth. None of them have their family names first.TokuGeek1999 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 8:21 am Is there a reason why Gira and Racles doesn't use family name first?

Re: King-Ohger 42 discussion post
An exposition dump, but done really well. Racles narrating the whole story from beginning to end, from the moment Dagdedo appeared before him to the destruction of Dagdedo, was a really good presentation. This was Gira and Racles' story, so I'm glad the others didn't butt in and there was no silly jokes being forced in. Though it's nice that the others came in at the end to save him, but I feel it'd be perfectly fine if Racles' story just end on this high note.
Racles was training and giving Gira power while at the same time lamenting Gira was wrecking up his plan, and royally wrecked it up he did. But to be frank I don't think ZERO can beat Dagdedo. Gira blowing it up forced him to aim for a power that will actually work.
Some of points might've been recon, like that needle with the tranquilizer. In that episode Kaguragi pretended to give Racles the real venom, but swapped to the tranquilizer so the others could fake Gira' death when Racles used it on Gira. That needle was injected into Geroujiimu who was impersonating Yanma at the time. Was that why Racles used it on "Yanma" because he knew it won't kill? In any case there shouldn't be any left, let alone a whole bottle.
There are still questions without answers, like why was Gira sent to the orphanage and why did he lose his memory? What was that rainbow jelly he ate? Was he a normal kid being given Dagdedo's power, or was he created from scratch by Dagdedo? What ever happened to Kuwagon's soul? Some of these answers we may never know.
It seemed this whole scheme was planned since the beginning with only the actor himself and a few selected staff knew about it, just like what they did with ShinkenRed. Yano Masato was a good actor and he sold Racles' scheming, his reaction on each stage of the plan, really well.
I liked that Dagdedo was attacking with missiles shaped like paper planes, really fits his theme of playing around.
PS. Toei is hiring screenwriters, anyone interested?

probably dagdedo's poop

Were people in Japan surprised by this twist? I mean, I guess the kids right? Like how the kids didn't guess that Wolzard was the father. I mean, I don't know if I had guessed that either at the time
>I liked that Dagdedo was attacking with missiles shaped like paper planes, really fits his theme of playing around.
You know, I didn't realize that was what those were supposed to be

They have been having a hard time holding onto good ones these last few years. I really don't know how I feel about the king-ohger writer. It's certainly ambitious, but in execution over a year-long series, it feels like there's been a few stumbles. And I can't really blame the guy for Toei deciding to make all their kingdoms with bad cgi and greenscreening

I think this is one of the best way to do a clip show. Agree with the irony that Racles is the EVIL KING...
Re: King-Ohger 42 discussion post
I've thought long and hard about this episode. And I think what i need to do is some more thinking.
On the one hand, we have the very badly needed exposition dump that finally brings everything together. Why Racles was so unabashedly evil, why Racles was at the same time confident he'd be okay, why Gira doesn't seem to die, etc.
On the other hand, that's interspersed over an episode that's roughly 50% clip show.
Last week I complained that Gira being a Dagededo clone was perhaps a twist too far, and this week I'm kind of numb to things as a result. It's a lot of exposition to unload, and the show still isn't done. There's still another two months of the show to go, so I don't want to write its eulogy prematurely, but at this point I'm getting a bit worried it's going to pull a Moffat (Sherlock showrunner) and end up with a story that becomes too convoluted for its own good. Convolution is not a substitute for genuine cleverness, especially in a medium like TV where the audience needs to be allowed to keep up. Racles whole plan/secret borders on being a Batman Gambit, but he isn't Batman.
There are a few things that surprised me here. Or at least upended my understanding thus far. Mainly, that King-Ohger Zero and Racles' sword came second. The two items have all the hallmarks of being the prototypes (fewer features and overall barer), and the Racles Secret mini-series certainly doesn't do anything to steer viewers away from that idea, with its focus on unlocking ancient things. It also calls into question why the series had the initial focus on ancient King-Ohger lore to begin with, but I digress.
In any case, we got a fantastic fight between the Hustley Bros and Dagededo. One was the sword, and the other was the shield. It was a nice way to split up the action between the two of them without it boiling down to both merely attacking at the same time. The rest of the kings are once again sidelined for [reasons], but this has been a Red-centric series for a while now, so that much isn't new.
Otherwise I won't beat a dead horse here, but fights shot on-location are just so much more dynamic and easy to follow than fights shot on the virtual set.
The bit I really wasn't expecting was for the series' big bad (Dagededo) to bite it in this episode. He is dead, right? That explosion (and re-explosion) seemed to be pretty absolute. Normally the big bad falls last, but here we are with him dead a couple of months earlier than usual.
If Dagededo really is gone, I'm going to miss the omnipotent ham. Even though the bored god trope is hardly new in writing, it's made for a very interesting and fun to watch villain for Super Sentai. None of the Jesters have that same swagger.

I presume that's coming up in the next episode or two. But we'll see. Those are definitely questions that need to get answered if the series is going to reach a satisfactory conclusion.Yaiba wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 9:51 am There are still questions without answers, like why was Gira sent to the orphanage and why did he lose his memory? It is absolutely 100% on-brand for Dagedodo, and I love every second of it.I liked that Dagdedo was attacking with missiles shaped like paper planes, really fits his theme of playing around.

Funnily enough, the reason is the nonsensical way travel works in this world. Either you can travel between kingdoms pretty much instantly, or it can take the arc of a whole episode because of drama and exposition reasons
>The bit I really wasn't expecting was for the series' big bad (Dagededo) to bite it in this episode. He is dead, right?
They posted his profile on the webpage, which indicates at least this version of Dagdedo is dead. I still think the pilot thing in his head escaped since you see a thing come out during the explosion

Huh. I guess I'm not seeing it. Nothing of his body seems to escape the explosion. Though the double explosion thing is very weird on its own.

I feel like that flash at the end is it teleporting out of there. You can see it's distinct from the second explosion that follows

Yeah it is, the singer, NANO, has wanted to do a Sentai song for a while now. I want to hear it live.
Here's to cheating, stealing, fighting, and drinking. If you cheat, may you cheat death; if you steal, may you steal a woman's heart; if you fight, may you fight for a brother; if you drink, may you drink with me.
