Everyone do your sword kata
Ghost has the gothy makeup on well
It's weird to see the series in broad daylight
I'm getting pretty fatigued with Mutsugi and Igus arguing about Souma. A) It's redundant, you just did it last episode B) It's not giving me any new information C) It's tell not show
Oh nooo, how long has Souma been dreaming about his dead dad? Think it's a coincidence that his dad has a white coat like Kouga?
What's that black powder that comes out of that attack? Gunpowder? I forgot Ryuuga did it too, otherwise I would have thought Souma were giving into his evil tendencies
Oh, that's different. Following up on a guy they saved previously. Feels like the "it's not our job to judge humans" is a lot more nuanced take on the fish person episode from season 1
What a wonderful ampitheater we've got set up for practice
Souma's expression never stops being funny to me
I guess no horror this episode?
Wait, that's where the episode ends??
I can forgive a setup episode, since this gave us some more insight into the three swordsmen (not much, but a little) and Souma. Unfortunately, not that much information is new. Souma's still a rash jerk, who's a daddy's boy. Obi still likes the GOlden Knight. So I guess all we really learned is that Ron is a decent swordsman?

Is there a place in Hokkaido called Dougai?

Re: Garo Hagane 03 released
Plugging Dougai/道外 into Google Translate did give me "outside Hokkaido;" I recognize the second kanji as referring to outside, but I'm surprised they didn't have some human translation aspect that would've caught this. (When I first saw it, though, I thought Isugu was saying "Man, I can't believe the Golden Knight's right outside Hokkaido where I live!")
I don't entirely know what does and doesn't count as Inga (outside being a variant of the bad vibes that can cause Sentai villains), but part of me's surprised Souma hasn't turned into a Horror yet. He doesn't appear to know about the existence of giving ground as a concept, and he lives by the sword, which he mostly uses as a shovel to dig himself deeper every opportunity he gets. A missing parent is a great starting point for sympathy, but even some of the least likeable KR secondaries had *some* positive point--and, as the episode's brief city scene pointed out, being a victim of circumstance doesn't make one a good guy. Obi is a nice contrast for Souma, though--not nearly as skilled, but willing to admit when he has something to learn. At the same time, they don't try and make him perfect, and indicate that he goes too far in the other direction by overemphasizing rank.

Re: Garo Hagane 03 released
道外 as Ryuuga'd name is supposed to show that he's outside (外) the standard/accepted path (道). Howeverrrrrr the kanji 道外 is 99.99999% of the time used in Hokkaido to denote things from outside Hokkaido (e.g. non-foreign tourists, food products, etc)
This is a particular egregious error that should have been caught by even a cursory inspection by a human, leading me to believe they're cutting even more corners than expected.

Re: Garo Hagane 03 released
It's weird because it's not entirely consistent. This series seems to affirm my understanding of it. If you have enough bad karma, you can get possessed by a Horror and lose your soul. And you need a certain threshold of evilness to even be turned. But there's definitely been instances in the past where people didn't seem evil enough for me to consider them turning into a Horror, yet for story reasons they did anyway

I mean it's not even worth nitpicking it, since it's AI translated. You can't understand meaning if you don't have a consciousness, so all you get are approximations of what the original Japanese said.

Filler episode to show that Souma is temperamental and immature. Next!

Re: Garo Hagane 03 released
Had some other thoughts:
- At the expense of stating what might be obvious, I realized the series subname must refer to Souma, as he is the heir to his father's Hagane in a general legacy sense
- Ryuuga having started his story with a depowered suit adds some depth to his line about being the Golden Knight not equaling unrivaled skills
- Japanese culture question: Obi bowing more deeply than Ryuuga makes sense as a matter of respecting seniority and rank rather than--or maybe in addition to--Obi's hero worship, though Ron's bow wasn't as deep as either's. Would this indicate that seniority outranks status in the hierarchy of respect? (Ryuuga may not care about armor-as-status, but Ron doesn't seem proud enough to break any social convention.)
