I feel obligated to point out I search for the Boonboomger forum every week before remembering I changed it to Tire People
Oh, so Boon is a mechanic. Seems like he transforms into a car and drives alright, why can't he drive unless he's like banned or something
Place your bets on when we'll see the Big Bang Grandprix
10-20s
20s-30s
40-50s?
lol. where'd yalcar go after mad rex busted into the scene?
Look at this rich guy's bed
At least the terrible greenscreening is limited to one side of the base in this series. Look at the scene of what's her face in the background of Taiya. Now look at the scene where it's them and Boon together. The pillar next to the greenscreen is freaking out. It's also freaking out a bit on the top of the cup of pencils
Looks like Boom Pink started out as Boom Red, but had time to change into her Boom Yellow outfit before going into battle
I love the fact that you can see the tire marks from all the times they had to redo that shot of the car pulling in
Wow, what a fancy intro song for red. Slowmo for the ISA lady too??
Man, what a cool vocal bgm
This episode is 20 percent cooler for not having a race
I paid more attention to the cockpits this time. Looks like they all share the five seater design, with the panels being white for Boon and red for the cars
lol that cape. It's interesting that the heads are attached in various ways besides just sticking another head on
Hmmm, do they have a cockpit where the wheel is on the right and one where it's on the left?
Buy all these toys
Looks like we're getting a pink and orange ep next week. It sort of feels a bit like that phase after the sixth is introduced and getting paired off with each of the rangers, only with the fifth instead
Kind of feel like we need a red and blue one soon. They're the oldest members as far as we know, and we know there's something going on with them, but it'd be nice to see that established earlier on than later
Surprised the first mini boss is down already. Thought he'd stick around till at least the 13 episode mark. Then again, how much of this series is going to be about the race? Will it be something done in the middle and then the end can be focused on taking out the Hashiriyan? Or will it be the last story arc?
Also, doesn't it feel like we're lacking something in the story? We know Boon's side, but we still know little to nothing about Taiya

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a series like that, bringing a deep feeling like ToQGer.
Donbrothers is good, but I don't feel good for the main plot. But this series is different. It reminds me of old Sentai series from the 2000s and ToQGer.
The main writer is from anime. He is in the same generation as Kobayashi and Inoue. So he definitely understands Sentai better than the new writers Toei has been pushing for the past 9 years.
I believe Red's past will be revealed soon. And if it's revealed too early, there won't be anything interesting left.
What I don't like about this series is that there is no Yellow. But luckily the cast is very good, the series is fun and there is still a plot, unlike Go-Onger which didn't have a main plot until the last 4 episdoes. So I look forward to the next arc when 6th debuts.

This song is name "Jibun no handle wa jibun de nigiru". I listened it this morning. It comes from the OST Album vol 1. You can find it on Apple Music.Wow, what a fancy intro song for red. Slowmo for the ISA lady too??

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
Mira having another week as Bun Yellow, I see.
I feel like the main conflict of this week's plot wasn't really resolved. The Boonboomgers are still, on the face of it, a vanity project for Taiya and Boondorio to win this competition, and on that basis, I'm not really sure why the ISA is any less reluctant to support them by the end. We still know next to nothing about this Grand Prix. Will it somehow tie in to defeating the Hasiliens? Maybe. But right now the characters have no reason to believe that.

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
If it does, why doesn't red just say what the connection is (besides they're hiding it for some dumb reveal). Otherwise, it just seems like a case of red and blue being too awkward to admit they are fighting evil for just altruistic purposes

Calling it now, it will turn out that the prize of the Grand Prix is getting a wish granted, something I don't think Super Sentai has ever done, but which Kamen Rider has now done 3 times (Ryuki, Geats and sort of Gaim).

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
They did if you count Super Sentai Strongest Battle, which admittedly was roughly in the mid point between Gaim and Geats so maybe they switch off like they do with other aspects of the series.HowlingSnail wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 2:00 pmCalling it now, it will turn out that the prize of the Grand Prix is getting a wish granted, something I don't think Super Sentai has ever done, but which Kamen Rider has now done 3 times (Ryuki, Geats and sort of Gaim).

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
The whole thing about Gokaiger was finding the thing that will grant your wish.
A courier that will deliver anything, including your dreams and your will to live. Taiya managed to turn something as personal as a dream into something so selfless.
That accident that caused BoonBoom to lose his racing license was probably related to the Hashiriyan.
This is my speculation, when ISA questioned Taiya and Taiya answered that it was his dream, I don't think he meant his dream was the same as BoonBoom. I think what he meant was that his dream was delivering everyone's dream, which includes BoonBoom's. It's also his reason to fight, to protect everyone's dream.
So we kind of know everyone's reason for staying in the fight, except Shashiro. We saw Taiya recruited him in a flashback but we didn't see his reason.
The car turned into a cape... A metal cape? I guess that works...

Production blog stuff
Hashiriken's voice actor Kamiya Hiroshi (who also voiced Max Rex) was able to do all the "Pararira" during the recap in one take without tripping over his tongue.
Taiya was excited about his first "Sentai Maki" (I guess it's referring to him getting wrapped in bandage rolls?).
Mira dealt with explosions, Joe overcame using wires, Genba had gotten better at heights. Taiya was pretty happy to finally be able to create something that was "his first".
During the "Mad Rex growing giant" scene, the script just said "ItaDeco, deliver Yalcar to him". Decotorade's suit actor, Ogura Toshihiro, proposed to kick Yalcar as a homage to Goranger's finisher 'Goranger Hurricane', which was kicking a rugby ball-shaped bomb. (ItaDeco is short for Itaasha + Decotorade)
Did you notice Taiya was holding a lollypop in this scene? It was Taiya's actor's idea. He had thought about how to express young Taiya when he met BoonBoom and his relationship with Genba. The director agreeded to his suggestion.

Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
True, but the goal was to find the "Greatest Treasure In The Universe" with the wish granting being the value once they found it (and there was that "God Eye" from the Ghost Ship movie) and not a prize offered for winning a game or battle royale like the others. Definitely some of the same concept though.

Yeah, Gokaiger's weird because they don't actually explain what the treasure is into they find it. Until then you get 48 episodes of this vague, undefined end goal.Gokider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:19 pmTrue, but the goal was to find the "Greatest Treasure In The Universe" with the wish granting being the value once they found it (and there was that "God Eye" from the Ghost Ship movie) and not a prize offered for winning a game or battle royale like the others. Re: Boonboomger 09 discussion thread
So, before anything else, I didn't think I could like this series more until I found out Masaki Endo did the opening, unless Youtube credited him for the opening wrongly as it was under his name for the topic.....
that said:
I'm kind of surprised they did a plot like this so early. it feels like a midseason plot line to be honest, where something major goes down or is revealed and they question their leader, but now here we are not even 10 episodes in. Make wonder if after this we'll even hear about the Galaxy Grand prix again, and if it falls out of attention until later on and then its, "oh yeah! that happened!"
Mad Rex's line about puncturing the tires was pretty good. in fact the whole fight with them facing him together was nice. while it was sentimental, it wasn't as overly so, and didn't feel like it was missing more feeling.
really wasn't expecting the jet car to make a knight with flaming cape but hey I was cool and we got away from them unscrewing the villain to win.
but Boomboom, if it was an accident, how did you get you license suspended? i think there will be more tragedy there we think.

It's Masaki Endoh who is singing the OP. He also does an awesome cover of the MMPR theme.
