Oh great we have another 100% guy. I think I got spoiled that Genba isn't human when I was setting up the timings. Everyone rejoice, we have a cat boy
Shashiro didn't know? Guy's been slacking lately
That box just held a pipe?
Suddenly all the damage that Genba caused is gone lol
Oh shit, mass produced Evas? A shady upper management? Does Boonboomger really have more going on than we thought?
The new captain has pink shoes
Taiya just ran into Genba? Seems like an unnecessary coincidence. I would have preferred it if Taiya sought him out because he heard Genba was a really good supplier
The new captain is the president of space amazon. His shoulder pet doesn't talk, but it has a big eye on it? Oh, so the new guy is snake themed
Genba just shoves the weapon into hammer space. It'd be funny if that was his secret power as a supplier
Itashaa is wearing Yalcar as a hat. Has she done that before?
Oh, so that's why they keep bringing up Mad Rex
Is the Sakito circle in the ending different each time? Neat, but what's the point?
Wow, did someone at Toei flip the "Boonboomger must have story" mode on? We've got a backstory for Genba, that ties into a personal storyline that involves the new villain. He's split apart from the team, which is weird, not going to lie I don't know how to feel about that. Shady ISA conspiracies going on. Mad Rex is coming back in some form
We still don't know what's going on with BoonBoom and Taiya, but this stuff seems way more interesting
Edit:
The mangaka is Shimamoto Kazuhiko in person. If you guys remember, episode 23 paid a lot of homages to his baseball manga. He's the Hashiriyan character designer, so he's essentially getting beaten up by his creation. This event looks like it's a reference to his other famous manga, The Flaming Transfer Student (Honoo no Tenkousei)

Wasn't expecting that about Genba's backstory, but I like it.
Now I'm caught up on Rider, I'm gonna actually try and keep up with SHT weekly now, especially as this is definitely getting interesting.

Wow, put some story in a show and people start getting interested in it. Mr Toei, think there's any correlation?

Re: Boonboomger 27 discussion thread
Both the opening and ending have different scenes they can cycle through so it isn't exactly the same in each episode.
I was kinda hoping that Genba had the exact same power of Creati in My Hero Academia with being able to produce stuff from himself. But I guess gutting his spaceship is the more simple answer along with ISA being unable to get his background because he wasn't from Earth. The lollipop wasn't just a quirk to his character but necessary which I do like. Also Safari being the vehicle in the base was a nice touch for the Genba episode.
Once Toei comes through with another top tier VA for the captains with Showtaro Morikubo who has voiced Shikamaru from Naruto (I mean Boruto's Dad).

Re: Boonboomger 27 discussion thread
this episode was really cool. and now I'm a sense of how they're handling the story in this season even more.
they recently came out with a poster for the new story arc we're moving into (which I won't share here because it's got some silhouettes and character positioning that are probably spoilers, as well as a character that's DEFINITELY a spoiler), and it refers to this section as the Third Lap. looking back, I get what they're going for:
Lap 1: establish the basic team. get a bunch of the groundwork for the story set up as we get bits of everyone's stories as they all come together, with the, now much more obvious, exception that all we know of Genba is he always has just what you need and he likes lollipops. give a bit of a glimpse into what the REAL deal is with the bad guy organization as we meet Mad Rex and learn our regular threesome is closer to Grunt than Leader, just barely being enough of a character each to avoid being a complete mook.
Lap 2: continue laying a bit more groundwork for the world at large, so we have a solid foundation, and give characters a little more focus, but most of the story is introduce and integrate 6th ranger and then introduce Red's power up. get a bigger glimpse into the bad guy organization, but still not a full picture, as we meet a leader who's a contrast to regular 3 and Mad Rex.
Lap 3: now that the foundation is in place, and the team is pretty well established, we can really start going ham with the larger scope story, and learn just how small the scale's actually been so far, as well as get a yet further look at how the bad guys really work and set up stuff for whenever we finally go to space.
Lap 4+: we'll just have to wait and see.
also loving the reveal with Genba's name. up until now, we just thought it was "car related pun" gimmick example number 5-ish (depending if you count full names as one pun overall, or split the first and last names into separate examples), but now it turns out it's a fake name taken from his home, which is cool enough, but he's really a cat boy and his real name is Genbard (like leopard, I assume) and his last name is a pun on "delivery". it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Re: Boonboomger 27 discussion thread
We never knew why Boondorio left his planet in the first place. Genba said their circumstances were different, but given Boondorio's reaction, I'm betting they're actually similar.
I like it when they give explaination on seemingly unrelated mundane things. Like why Genba was always eating sweets.
Genba's form looked so much like Inuyasha.
Planet Bureki. Planet Break. Even planet names are car puns now.
The suspecious adult are building an army of robots? Are they going to start a war in space?
Both ByunDi and Sakito went to Disrace, but only Sakito fought. ByunDi's suit wasn't suitable for stunt work, but it felt strange that he didn't help out at all while Sakito was getting his a$$ whopped.
In last week's ending, ByunDi and Sakito's circle took up almost the whole screen. I'm glad it's back to normal this week.

Disrace
Disrace's suit actor is Muraoka Hiroyuki. He played the empty-headed Koinobori Gurumaa (ep10) and the cute Fossil Gurumaa Kiitaro (ep15). Now he plays a ruthless enemy commander who talked business! The range of his acting skills is astonishing.
And his voice actor is Morikubo Shoutaro!!
Before the show even started airing, a senior producer had recommended Morikubo to us, saying he'd be perfect for Boonboomger. When writer Tomioka created a role that was just perfect for him, we had no choice but to ask him.
He willingly accepted, saying "Leave the villain to me!"
Even in his first dubbing session, he surprised the staff with his acting that far exceeded our expectations.
When fighting BoomViolet, the "Chari chari chari~" sound of the bicycle attack was ad-libbed by Morikubo-san. So fun!
Genba
When Genba was explaining his past, he stroked the car and said "That's when I met Taiya. (大也に出会った)". The line originally written on the script was "That's when I saw Taiya. (大也を見て)" But the way he played it out, he was very stylish while showing raw emotions at the same time. It was one of my favorite scenes, so we kept it.
The seeds to this reveal were sown in previous episodes...
In episode 13 he said to the Three Seaters, "I hate you guys." A strong phrase he wouldn't normally use.
In episode 15, after he helped Kiitaro got away, he had a sad expression and asked, "Are you a lonely dinosaur?"
Shimamoto Kazuhiko
Amazingly, Hashiriyan character designer Shimamoto Kazuhiko himself made an appearance...!
Wow, what a chaotic episode.
If you were curious about Ittasha suddenly saying "Oh, so cool.", please check out Volume 28 and 29 of "Aoi Hono". We were able to use Shimamoto-sensei's manga and illustrations this time. We received a lot of help from Shimamoto's editor, Ishida-san! Thank you very much!
He looked like he was really having fun playing the role of a mangaka who was attacked. On the day of the shoot, the staff burst out laughing when they saw his expressions on the monitor.
Carpet Gurumaa
Carpet Gurumaa's voice actor was Ogino Seiro. He gave a somewhat silly and laid-back performance for a monster. He tried a lot of different things during the dubbing. Everyone, including the director, had lots of fun while creating this adorable character.
Thank you very much!!

I'm honestly not sure what's going on with that. Boonboomger isn't exactly a shady government agency show. But I wasn't expecting sudden cat boys either

I knew I forgot to mention something in my original comment. it was that I was surprised Genba was the one to get a reveal like this, given how early some of us suspected we'd get Boondorio's backstory and learn he fell in love with curry because it was the first thing Taiya ever gave him to eat.

Now that you mentioned it, yeah there might be something else that happened to the planet.takenoko wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 9:36 am >We never knew why Boondorio left his planet in the first place. - Genba wanted revenge, not taking back the planet.
- He was out for blood. Yeah he'll want to beat the crap out of Disrace, but there's no need for that level of rage if the planet was intact and his father was alive.
- He didn't need the spaceship anymore because he didn't think he'll have a planet to return to.
- He was a lone survivor.
- Sakito had a strange look when Mira suggested taking back the planet.
Hmmm...
Re: Boonboomger 27 discussion thread
Those looked like the Three Seaters' Dark BoonBoom Robo. CG asset reuse, or actual plot point? After all, we don't know where it originally came from nor where it went after the last appearance.
Often. I can't name a specific instance, but it's not totally new to this episode.
Not that weird. After all, he's an Orange Ranger, and those tend to be the lone wolves that separate themselves (to varying degrees) from the rest of their teams at some point.
(Granted, there's really only two other Oranges, but those were Battle Cossack and SasoriOrange. Which does prove the point.)

There's also ToQ6gou and Zyuoh Bird... both of whom also prove your point, now that I think about it. Say what you want about Toei, they're consistent with characterization.SVNBob wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 8:34 pm
