Taiya with the shaky fingers!
I see Genba is free to be a cat boy now
Genba's Boom Orange title is removed from the opening credits
Huh, guess Japan's globes are in Japanese
Feel like we don't see black and pink hanging out that often
I guess it's kind of funny for carpet to be the way to contain soaked up gyahsoline. Carpets abosrb everything, unforunately
Ristorante?
Itashaa waitress
I like that the people just walked into this restaurnt full of weird aliens. Itashaa is doing a dance in the back while their gyahsoline is sucked
Raita, you're not the commander in this series! Don't give orders!
Oh, I was wondering if he always had the dog on his hand. Guess that makes the puppeting easier
I feel bad for the monster of the week, that sign on his back looks awkward
Suddenly we're in the cave filming location
Weirdly good crab claw cgi
Is this secretly a Boom Black episode? The solo fight is good, but I feel like the character and story didn't do enough to support it
Nice finisher pose Police Robo
Huh, Shashiro intrigue
Pink's boyfriend is back again?
Gotta admit, that was a bit of a let down after the excitement from last week. One nitpick I have for this series is that, while it's entertaining, it never really rises to any sort of greatness or memorability. There's barely any story and anything character focused tends to happen really quickly in order to get to the fight scenes
Like compare this to past Sentai shows. Black and pink's dynamic in this episode is pleasant co-workers. Compare this to MegaBlack being uptight and finding MegaPink annoying and shallow or DekaRed and DekaBLue constantly bickering and competing for the spotlight. We get teases of stuff here, but it tends to not be enough and I think it contributes to the flatness of the storytelling here
We made a big deal about Orange going off on his revenge quest and... he's just on the roof mind training his fight with the bad guy. Meanwhile the team... misses him and that... encourages black to fight even better than usual. It's alright, but doesn't that sound boring in summary? Why aren't we seeing Orange use his clever clever brain to track down his mortal enemy or seeing the team actually struggle to be down a person? Maybe he stops giving a fuck and is a fulltime cat person, scaring normal humans as he goes on his revenge quest? Give me some actual struggle or conflict so the story has stakes. Don't just hint at something at the end of the episode and give a limp or total lack of payoff in the next episode
4/5 stars it's fine, but you're leaving plot money on the table

I forgot to mention last week, but Disrace's face really looks like Sledge from Power Rangers Dino Charge.
I'm impressed they took Orange (mostly) out of the opening this week. Guess he's not rejoining just yet.

Re: Boonboomger 28 discussion thread
Jou usually uses his weapon as a rod, and his finisher is BoonBoom Rod Drive. Folding the rod into an axe and using BoonBoom Axe Drive is Genba's gig. Jou using the axe this time is a nice little detail.
They tried to play into the two members in the sub-team that used BoonBoom Booster. But unlike the main three, these two didn't really have any bonding moments before, so it didn't really pay off here.
Naito really doesn't feel like an enemy. He's such a good mentor to Taiya. I'm really interesting to see what's his angle with the ISA.
Where did Sakito disappeared to during the robot fight?
Was Disrace paying attention to Boondario at the end? Will be finally get Boondario's backstory?
Ps. Judging by the blog, this week's MOTW was really expensive with the glowing lights.

Genba
There are two meanings behind the title of this episode.
The noisy Neon light Guruma, which Joe shaked off and defeated. And the warm light of the Boonboomgers, which Genba was trying to shake off. It's a sad title, with the "light" and "shake off" having completely opposide meanings.
Iuchi-kun (Taiya) also wondered why didn't they stop Genba from leaving? He asked the staff the reason before filming began. The reason was that, roughly speaking, adults don't usually interfere too much with other people's lives.
It's very difficult to put into words lol. For example, when you're in middle school and your best friend says he wants to quit the club, you tend to stop him with all your might.
But when it comes to the choices your best friend makes as an adult, don't you often just silently watch over them? Whether it's changing jobs or quitting your job.
As Genba chases revenge and loses sight of what's around him, a traditional Super Sentai strategy would be to stop him even if it meant hitting him. But Taiya believes in Genba, so he chooses not to do that. Writer Tomioka-sensei said "I don't want to just hit him and drag him back."
"Nameru" Director Watanabe
"Nameru" (ナメる) is a filming terminology that means deliberately placing an object between the camera and the subject, and then film through the object. In other words, using foreground elements.
When watching the preview, Producing Kuji couldn't help but comment, "You really used a lot of foreground elements this time." I did notice a few, but I wasn't paying any attention. For the producer to point out deliberately, it must be really noticeable.
Director Watanabe always this technique to give us such passionate scenes. When he heard the producer's comment, he said, "I heard the steel beams calling to me to film through them."
Check out the results. These magnificent foreground shots!
Looking at these, we can see that this technique is often used when emotions subtly change or when there is an uneasy atmosphere. The foregrounds add depth to the scene, making each scene feel more realistic.
If you watch without paying attention to them, they are one of the elements that draw you into the scene. But if you pay attention to them, its quite interesting to notice their placements.
Mad Rex
He's now called "Mad Rex Fury." Fury is a word that expresses intensity or strong anger. It's definitely not a name borrowed from "Mad Max: Furiosa"
The Hashiri dog that was previously attached to his thigh is now on his left arm, and its cry is "bararira bararira...".
Something's different from before...??
Neon Gurumaa
It's incredible, isn't it? The design was like a concentrated version of Shimamoto-sensei's strong points. I was really surprised when I saw it. In fact, it's the biggest shock I had up till this episode, so I'm making a special public release for everyone!
In addition to the huge crab and pufferfish signs that I feel like I've seen somewhere before, there's a miniature car on it and a Gu◯ko-like design...it's kind of cute!!
But with this size and the full-body light-up gimmick, the price... the price wasn't cute!! Also, in the initial design there were other faces that weren't angry, but let's keep this between you and me, we had to reluctantly omit some of them due to modeling and cost constraints...
And there's only one reason why we went to fight the dark cave! The expensive Neon Gurumaa wouldn't be cost-effective if we didn't make it glow!!
...That's one reason, but this dark location was actually in a very cool place. We went there so that the action team could give their full action outside of the harsh conditions in the middle of summer.
And in order to make sure Saito's face was visible during this transformation scene, we actually filmed him wearing the suit on set.
Opening
Did you all notice? The opening has changed.
Up until now, there have been minor changes with the addition of Sakito, and we've delivered different videos to the lyrics "Doki doki doki doki doki doki ♪".
But this time Genba is gone...
In the 49-year history of the Super Sentai series, there were many additional warriors, and the amount of footage added were as numerous as the stars in the sky. But it's rare for someone to be taken out. There's nothing that can be done about it. Genba himself announced his departure, and Taiya didn't stop him. Genba is officially no longer a Boonboomger.

Well, now I'm confused because Fury Road in Japan is called Ikari no Death Road.
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%9E ... A%E3%82%B5
Where's Furiosa is there but that's not the same as Fury
Mad Max: Fury Road
But if you spelled the English name in Japanese you would get the same Fury as Fury Road. So maybe the writer wrote in the joke based on the first movie, but the producer wasn't aware of the original title so he assumed it was for the second?

Come back Genba! you even left the intro lol
Jou was cool, I liked his fight with the Neon monster.
The grunts aren't exactly disguised how did people fall for that lol I get it suspension of disbelief cause there's some costume stuff involved but it wasnt exactly made clear if it was a team rocket situation or not.
Mad Rex is gonna be pretty dull without his personality, hope he gets it back soon.

Right, but they don't match. It makes me think that the writers named it after Fury Road and Yoshikawa Fumiki, the assistant producer who writes the website, thought it was Furiosa since he didn't know the English nameYaiba wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:07 am Its the newest movie in the franchise released in 2024.

Edit:
A minor bit of trivia, but the couple that enter the restaurant and admire the sign are the same ones who have t heir shoes transformed in episode 12

Re: Boonboomger 28 discussion thread
I would definitely remove all the Boon Orange scenes, have Sakiko replace Genba of the scene where the individual members going from civilian to Boonboomger. Also I would add Genba changing into his alien form.
The scenes when the Doki doki doki doki doki doki part being sung are interesting at a second glance. This episode had Jou looking sad along with Boondorio being depressed. The previous episode had no Boon Orange scene and the group shot at the end is like better times are gone now. Episode 26 had Genba with his back turned with his head on the left and was the last scene. I haven't gone back to the previous episodes but episode 24 had Taiyo making the secret sign which the episode was involving him with his former teacher.
