I've never noticed Hanto being dead after the cat search in the opening. heh, gurucan sinking into the ground at the end of the opening

it's amazing no one found Shouma. he's basically wearing the clothes you're supposed to wear at night t o avoid getting hit by cars lol

Oh right, we get confirmation that Shouma's memory is messed up, since not only did his mom mention cake, but it was her favorite one. I'm beginning to think that Shouma's powers aren't food based, but mom based. His minions are all based on things his mom drew. And the minions only spawning because of candy would be silly since they don't spawn for other foods. Tin foil hat theory, what if his mom didn't get turned into spice but was part of his belt instead?

And maybe Shouma sees Sachika as a substitute mother?

This is a surprisingly grounded episode and a fantastic follow up to last week's episode. I've said in the past that Sachika's character serves as a good grounded foil to the crazy nature of the Granutos and Shouma's link to them, and this week's episode really delve deep into that. It's really touching to see how much of an impact Sachika has had on Shouma's life, and to see Shouma fighting to keep the smile on the one person who have shown him so much kindness is heartwarming. Sure, Shouma have the greater desire to protect humans in general, but it's his desire to also bring happiness to Sachika that made his battle all the more personal and relatable.

Recent seasons of KR have early power ups that are mostly contrived, but here Shouma's first major power up comes along with his personal growth. I haven't cheered for a Rider's power up this much for a long time, it felt so well deserved. To think this is only the first of many power ups to come, I'm excited to see where the writers will take Shouma's next stage of growth. A good, solid writing does take a show far, even for one centered on candies.

Good Episode, Didnt expect one of the main 5 to go down this early (I thought the twins would eventually be redeemed but guess not) but should be interesting seeing how the brother handles Shiita's demise.

The fight wasn't as good as last weeks but the new form is pretty cool and his cake minions are neat, dunno if they're possessing the twins minions or not, but it make things a lot more even.

Nylev and Suga are in cahoots afterall, ah well was expected since Suga is in the villain portion of the opening.

The cake eating scene felt like a remedy to Shouma just saying everything is delicious in the same way for previous foods--there's emotional meaning behind it, and the depth's at an appropriate level for introducing a new major form. Looks like Shouma giving up on offering his opponents an out came just a little too soon, though, between destroying any chance at empathizing or reasoning with his also-victimized siblings and Hanto's target having a better shot at quitting than any of the previous MotWs. Unsure how fazed Shouma's going to be next up at having killed a sibling, though if the writing's as good as it's been he's gonna need a minute; no idea where and for how long Jiip's story's going to go, though an enemy-of-my-enemy alliance looks pretty off the table.

Kudos to the writer for writing a story for a cake form that actually make sense in context. People have cakes in special occasions, they represent happiness. The overwhelming happiness of making and eating the cake awakened Shouma's power-up.

They just put Stinger on the roof? At least decorate it a bit to make it look like a street...

Great actions on the crane. Looks really dangerous with the height.

Sachika preparing food and wating for Shouma and Hanto's return was really heartwarming. It's a feeling of home, returning to the cozyness after having a really hard day.

Shita and Jeebh

Shita and Jeebh's past wasn't revealed last time. The reason Shita and Jeebh resented Shouma was because they were envious of Shouma's familial love, which they themselves did not have.

A similar flashback occurred in episode 13, but it was told from Shouma's perspective. It was the same event, but the cleverness of the script gave completely different impressions depending on which perspective you look at! It's cruel that Shouma had no way of knowing Shita and Jeebh's side of events...

Shita and Jeebh's monster forms are based on the Norse mythological creatures Sköll and Hati. Shita's motif Sköll was a wolf that tried to eat the sun, and Jeebh's motif Hati was a wolf that tried to eat the moon, making them famous as opposing characters. Shita and Jeebh's earrings also featured the sun and moon respectively. In Old Norse, Sköll means "One Who Mocks", and Hati means "One Who Hates". (Perfect for the two, don't you think?)

Try to guess what the motifs of the other brothers, of which only their heads are revealed, are!


The King of Cakes

As the name CakeKing suggested, it was a white sophisticated design combining the motif of kings and cakes. The design was born after repeated revisions to find a way to turn the fairy-tale image of a cake into a cool and powerful design.

This powered-up form of Gavv was the fruit of hard work of the PLEX design team. The transformation sequence was also reproduced by Tokusatsu Kenkyujo Co. Ltd. with realistic cream texture using CG! The combined efforts of many different people had achieved the ultimate balance between coolness and the delicious feel of sweets!!

CakeKing Gochizo is the king of cakes, and speaks like an old man. His dignified voice is provided by Sakurai Koki-san, who also voices the other Gochizo.

One thing worth noting about was that, while the other Gochizos ascend to heaven once used, CakeKing Gochizo continues to exist even after being used and does not disappear. This shows how special this Gochizo is. It carries the feelings of Shoma and Sachika.

CakeKing's weapon, the GavvWhipper, had the ability to spawn soldiers called the Whipped Soldiers. It wouldn't be fun if they were just npc helpers! So Director Sugihara came up with the idea of making them an odd couple with opposite physiques, for getting lost in the middle of the fight, for trying too hard and ended up reversing the whip, and adding a playful side to them.

By the way, the normal whipped cream attacks were also given various twists by the director. There were many unique touches that you can only see in a Candy-theme Rider, such as the whipped-cream letters made by Tajima-san, and a realistic reproduction of whipped cream using white paint instead of CG.

We were also very particular about the location. Thanks to the kindness of the location's owner, we were able to use a bridge crane on a high platform to create dynamic action scenes!

シータとジープとの最終決戦へ！

前回は明かされなかった二人の過去。
シータとジープが二人を恨んでいた背景には、自分たちには無かったショウマへの家族愛に対する羨望の気持ちがありました。。
13話でも同様の過去回想がありましたが、前回はショウマ視点で描かれ、今回はシータとジープ視点で描かれました。
同じ時系列の同じ出来事ですが、それぞれの視点によって全く違う印象を与える脚本の妙！
それにしてもショウマがこの背景を知る由もなかったのが残酷ですね…。

前回のみどころでも少し記載がありましたが、シータとジープの怪人態は北欧神話の「スコル」と「ハティ」をモチーフにしています。
どちらも北欧神話に登場する狼で、シータのモチーフ「スコル」は太陽を食おうとする狼、ジープのモチーフ「ハティ」は月を食おうとする狼で、対になる存在として有名です。
実はシータとジープの耳飾りにはそれぞれ太陽と月がデザインされているのです。
スコルは古ノルド語で「嘲る者」「高笑い」を意味し、ハティは「憎しみ」「敵」を意味するんですって！（確かに二人にぴったり？）
頭部だけ明らかになっている他の兄弟がなんのモチーフなのか、ぜひ予想してみてください！！

ケーキの王様が爆誕！

「ケーキング」という名前の通り王様とケーキをかけ合わせ、白を基調とした洗練されたデザイン。
メルヘンなイメージのケーキをどうしたらカッコよく、強さを感じられるデザインに落とし込めるか、推敲に推敲を重ねた結果生み出されたデザインです。
デザインを担当したPLEXチームの努力の結晶とも言える、ガヴのパワーアップフォームでした。

変身シークエンスも特撮研究所のCGでリアルなクリームの質感が再現されていましたね！

いろいろな方の力が合わさって、カッコよさとお菓子のおいしそうな感じが究極のバランスで成り立っているのです！！

ゴチゾウはケーキの「王様」という事で、おじいさんのような口調をしています。
貫禄があるその声は他のゴチゾウの声も担当されている櫻井皓基さんにお願いしています。

このケーキングゴチゾウの特筆すべき点として、他のゴチゾウが一度使われると天に召されてしまうのに対して、このゴチゾウは使われても消える事なく在り続ける、ということがあります。

それだけ、ショウマや幸果の想いが乗った特別なゴチゾウという訳です。

ケーキングの武器であるガヴホイッピアには、通常のホイップ攻撃の他に「ホイップ兵」という兵隊を生み出す機能があります。
ただの助っ人じゃつまらない！ということで、
杉原監督のアイディアにより、体格の違う凸凹コンビにしたり、戦っている最中に道に迷っちゃったり、頑張りすぎてホイップをリバースしたり、お茶目な一面も加えられています。

ちなみに通常のホイップ攻撃も監督の演出によって様々な工夫が凝らされていて、田嶋さん作の「ホイップ文字」や合成ではなく白い塗料のようなものでリアルにクリームを再現するなど、お菓子ライダーならではの演出がたくさん見られました！

ロケ地にもこだわっていてロケ地様のご厚意で高台の橋形クレーンを使ったダイナミックなアクションも実現することができました！
高所からの落っこちアクションは目を見張るものがありましたね！

I knew that Suga had to be involved with someone from Stomach Inc., and the fact that it's Nyelv makes soo much sense.

Sachika really is the glue that holds these dorks together. Her keeping Hanto and Shouma together is just *chefs kiss.* Her doing everything to fight and support them is awesome.

Man, the selective outrage the Stomach Siblings have runs deep. And I do understand why Shiita and Jeebh feel like they were slighted by Shouma, but it does hurt a little that they couldn't resolve their issues without a fight to the death. Part of me wonders if this is what it's like for all noble/wealthy families? You see tropes like this echo throughout different forms of media, but if art imitates life...well, ya know? And once again, I have to give the writers their credit. They took what little empathy I had for the twins and dashed it against the rocks with their arrogance at valuing their own lives over the humans they so haughtily look down on.

I have to say, the white colored Reiwa Rider forms do not miss at all. From ArkOne, to Live's Holy and EvilytyLive forms, Geats Mark 9, and now Gavv's Caking Form. Though, I will admit, I couldn't stop giggling at all the whipped topping being thrown around in this episode. Also, the fact that he gets his own spe-I mean white minions does answer a question I had in the back of my mind as to how he plans to deal with constantly getting jumped all the time. Not only that, but they have different body types and personalities to boot! It's so much fun when you can tell what someone is like by their body language alone. One is serious and knightly, the other is more of a brawl for ages after a good meal type due.

I'm always going to end up gushing over how detailed these fight scenes are, because it has been so long since I've seen battle damage to the environment that the CGI team kept as part of the fight. Give these people their flowers and whatever award that Japan's Hollywood can give them for combat, this is PEAK!!!

Ah, Shiita got fridged huh? I'm interested in seeing how this is going to change Jeebh's character from here on out.

Once again, the conflict of ideals between Shouma and Hanto will rear it's head. Both have valid reasons for feeling the way they do, but how will the be able to reconcile those differences will be key. Lango sounds more caught off guard than angry that Shiita is dead. This has to play into whatever is going to happen to Jeebh from here on out. Maybe it'll be some form of escalation leading to Valen getting a power up or Sachika becoming a Rider. (If she does. The bouncing gummies could just be a red herring.)

I wonder if there's a two limit on the humanoid minions. We see that they tend to be male and female (since the same man and woman do the voices for the Agents as well as all the Gochizo {except cakeking}). And I just noticed these are color coded for the twins. And Gavv can only summon two Whipped Soldiers too (god hope that's not misconstrued)

This episode hit hard. The ruined birthday was just horrible and seeing the twins looking upon the opposite with Shouma and his mother. It seemed like the other siblings were only at the party on a coffee break and didn't care that much about making their siblings happy.

The death of Sheeta was rough as I expected Jeebh to be the one to die. You knew that there was going to be a character death and the lead up to it was impressive with the new powers and the flashbacks that might've hinted that the twins enjoyed their younger brother. Strangely, I would've said "Hello. My name is Shouma Inoue. You killed my mother. Prepare to die".

The new power up was cool because it showed that Shouma has become stronger, and the delayed birth of his new minion was impressive. I've noticed that with other minions they seem to die after one use, but the cake minion seems to be a new breed.

Can't say I was surprised to see Nyelv show up at Suga's place because they have the same swagger for research. It also makes sense because how else would a human have a Granuto organ on hand if they're so dangerous.

Dude, if you haven't noticed, all the food that triggered the creations of his minions are foods Shouma's mother had told him as a kid. From gummy bears to chocolate and cakes.
