When was the last time we had a Boom Blue episode? It can't be since the aquarium can it? Oh wait, I guess the spy episode was his
These two aliens love that tire mascot
lol Mira's reactions to the kid
Jou immediately forgets that he should be guarding Boondorio. Sounds about right
Man the police in Japan seem pretty great
How cold is that river water, Jou
Michael Jackson's suit actor sure is giving him a lot of flashy movements. Oh that was just the Three Seater's delusions
Surprisingly it's not her weight
Kind of a tortured way to squeeze another toq custom Byundi into a battle
What the heck is Shashiro's secret mission anyway? Stop teasing
Oh, it's cool that he made a new changer to fit boom black
A fun black and pink episode. Just weird that it's showing up so late
Blue was just sitting in the box waiting for his turn to be a part of the PSA?
What another sports episode? But we're in the last arc. When are we going to find out what Shashiro is up to or confront Spindo being on Earth? Looks like Matsumoto is showing up in person next week

Re: Boonboomger 40 discussion thread
I will not lie, I love Jou episodes. I know his episodes and the show in general are of a basic nature. But I really like this kind of stuff. Idk, I guess I like a 'grounded role model who moves beyond his screw-ups', rather than a perfect one that doesn't make them in the first place. Jou's dad was a cool guy.

How'd it take me 40 episode to figure out the three seaters are Team Rocket XD
They have delusions of grandeur, they pilot giant robots that blow up, they have a catchphrase
Kinda fitting since Rica Matsumoto is in the show.
pretty basic episode but the fight was entertaining, they way they keep coming up with new ways to use the tires in combat is impressive.

Re: Boonboomger 40 discussion thread
Jou's episodes were always straight forward, which is nice because sometimes you just want a simple hero story. Shashiro was right, Jou embraces the heroic nature of Boonboomger more than anyone else.
The boy just totally ignored Mira.
Lol the dog was annoyed at Jou.
As soon as the Three Seaters started speaking "professional", I knew it was a delusion. Kind of disappointed that Spindo didn't actually participate in the Three Seaters' shenanigans.
I was starting to get annoyed at the kid mid-way, glad they linger on the scene and went straight to the fight.
I like this week's lesson of don't afraid to make mistakes, it can't always be perfect. It's a mindset that's hard to overcome.
Oh thank goodness they show that the little brother is still alive.

The Unmeasurable Man, the Unfathomable Man
This episode title has two meanings.
First, as a contrast to the Scale Kurumaa who measured people's past failures, Jou said if you learn from your failures, you can turn them into your experience rather than an embarrassing part of your past. The other meaning was that Jou was such a straightforward hero that you can't sized him up.
That was the kind of meaning we wanted to convey, but I remembered the script meeting for this episode took quite a while. In episode 5, after he was rejected from joining the Boonboomger, we tried to depict Jou's growth over the course of a year. This meeting proceeded with that goal in mind. We tried to express Jou's heroism through his childhood, to show how much he's grown as a hero.
Having said that, we had this episode's script meeting in consecutive with the previous episode which was about the masked Tire People,. I think everyone was in weird mood, right after someone said, "Wouldn't it be funny if only the face was masked and the rest of the body was in normal clothes?" and I was like, "Haha, I've never seen that before!"...
Hirose Itsuki
Hirose Itsuki was played by Yamamoto Kairu-kun.
Apparently, he became a child actor because he loves tokusatsu shows. He can even perfectly reenact the Ending Song's Kotsupon Dance. When I pointed to Director Nakazawa and said, "That's the guy who made Zenkaiger and Geats," he opened his mouth wide and his eyes lit up. His reaction made me happy too.
So Joe decides to show Itsuki his heroic deeds. Did you think the dog look familiar? That's right, it's Matthew! The dog Jou was questioning in episode 26. Thank you for having him to appear again. The owner should give him some jerky as a reward!
A filming set within a filming set
The robber was suit actor Etoku-san, his most recent roles were KR Gotchard and KR Tycoon. The director was Jun Watanabe-san, retired suit actor and the current Action Director of Boonboomger. The film that they were working was "Pursuit, Exterminate, Mach Detective VI" (追跡撲滅マッハ刑事Ⅵ).
Those with good intuition may already have guessed this, but the suit actor for "Pursuit! Exterminate! Kamen Rider Mach!!" was Watanabe Jun-san. What about Detective VI? This was a bit difficult. The suit actor for DekaBreak from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, who had the number VI, was Etoku-san.
Most people would have noticed the reference to Mach, but if you also noticed the DekaBreak joke, you can award yourself the Level 1 Toei Special Effects Certification.
By the way, the staff around them are real Boonboomger staff. By having all the real staff appear, we've recreated a really serious scene.
...But it was too serious. When someone yelled "Cut, cut, let's do it again!" everyone was confused about when to stop acting because they didn't know if they were talking about the filming of Boonboomger or the filming of Mach Detective VI lol.
Kurumaju
This week's Kurumaju was Scale Kurumaa. He measured people's embarrassment numbers and collects gyahsoline. The numbers were pretty outrageous, not only were they embarrassing but they were not funny at all...
...Or so I thought.
This toilet paper guy had a really great vibe, love that scene. Even though Director Nakazawa filmed this himself, he said he didn't know whether 1.2m was considered long or short. Then someone said it also made a difference whether it's used single or double... There's no need to discuss such things in length...
But seriously, Director Nakazawa is really good at this kind of directing.... He's an unmeasurable man, no, an unfathomable man...
The Age at Which a Big Mistake Was Made
Jou's dad is played by GaoRed's actor, Kaneko Noboru-san.
The story was about an incident that took place between 9-year-old Jou and his father. Jou's father was also a police officer. On a cold winter's morning, Jou put his father's jacket over the stove to warm it up so that he can stay a little warmer when he went to work. But the jacket started to burn...
Just like Itsuki, the actions he took with good intentions ended up being wrong. But Joe's father told him, "Don't lose that kindness in the future."
"The important thing isn't to not make mistakes, but to learn from them and move forward."
"There is no such thing as a 100% perfect hero."
"Put your foot on the gas and accelerate 100% in the direction you want to go. Be the hero you want to be."
Jou had continued to move forward with these feeling to this day. The good thing about Jou was that he can say things like this so directly. The older we get, the more we tend to fear making mistakes, but it's important to think about what you take from them and move forward.

Can we appreciate that Jou is probably a full time cop who has the equivalent of 13 US dollars in his savings account? /me looks at Taiya who's a literal billionaire

Honestly with him being flat broke and Mira having 28 part time jobs, they're probably the most relatable heroes we've seen in a while...
Taiya's rich, Shashiro probably has an illegal hoard squirreled away somewhere, Genta's a shipping heir, at least Sakito's a bum

The ever disappearing middle class that's gobbled up by the increasingly super rich or super poor? Is Boonboomger a commentary on our capitalist society?

The main writer of Boonboomger was also the main writer for the Satoshi generation of Pokemon. So it's not surprising that there are Pokemon anime references in Boonboomger.DrewHLMW wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:54 am How'd it take me 40 episode to figure out the three seaters are Team Rocket XD

Kinda fitting since Rica Matsumoto is in the show.
It is like Bester said "Being a hero means you can make your own hours but the pay sucks". You really don't get paid for being a hero.

Re: Boonboomger 40 discussion thread
Oooh, I did not clock that all the writers are anime people. I was wondering where Toei were getting all these random people. That explains the variability of quality
