After the rush of the last couple episodes, green had a pretty good story. Probably the strongest episode of the series so far

And it looks like next week we'll get a proper focus episode for black. So that's cool too. It really makes you wonder how much we'll get of Kuwagata-Ohger and Don Momotarou though, since it seems like they're nto going anywhere. Man, that newspaper is from 2017. Sumino's actress is 18, so that'd make her about 10ish??

The story this episode was actually pretty compelling and felt like such a huge departure from the first three episodes I had to go and check who the writer was (Still Inoue Akiko). Having an old man in a young man's body is definitely new, and gives lie to the original description of "party people high schooler" we were told. Clearly he's quite the opposite.

Seems kinda unfair for TegaSword to just give him eternal youth and not give Unicorn her family back though. TegaSword hates women?

I enjoyed that. I agree it was a massive departure from the last couple of episodes, in that I actually cared about what was going on. Next week seems interesting too. So maybe those first 3 episodes were just a blip, and actually it's just Red, Blue and Yellow I don't like.

Oh, and apparently we have another ranger with a little sister called Oto.

I was wondering if something were going on with the names (since everything is an easter egg nowadays). Like Kinjirou's family all have names. Fusako is his wife, Hitoshi is his grandson, Shinji is his son. I wondered if they were referencing past Sentai characters or if it's just as simple as "here's the kanji in their names and what they mean in relationship to the story"

I looked at the credits properly for the first time. They actually credited the main suit actors by characters. In the past they just gave a list of names, and you can't be really sure who played who without checking a wiki. Suit actors play such an important role in toku shows, I'm happy so they're getting proper credit in the show's credits.

Did Wienners wrote the lyrics "Oh ey oh" as "OAO" because it looks like an emoticon?

For a 19-year-old, Kinjirou's actor did a very good job playing a convincing 87-year-old.

Did this break any records? Is this the oldest sentai ranger actor to date?

I just realized the thing they're doing in the ring were their rollcall. Other than Red, Green was the first one to had a rollcall in the ring, saved the absorbed person from the MOTW, and finished the MOTW off on the ground.

So these special captains will be references to past sentai. Last time it was Gorenger, and this time was Fiveman and GoGo V. Too bad they barely got any screentime.

Someone doesn't like Ryusoulger, got taken out like a scrub.

It'll never be explain because it runs on Don Brother's logic, but don't the other ring users ever wondered why their rings didn't come with a complementary golden robot?

They can just randomly bump each other out of the robot by activating their own? It's such a chaos I can't say I'm a fan of that.

This episode was pretty good. I think what made me care more about this episode was because we got Green's origin story, his relationship with his family, his goal, and his resolve. It had better character story telling. Meanwhile we spent 3 chaotic episodes with the other 3 and still know basically nothing about them, and Red's inexperience acting is grinding on my gears like a certain alchemy Rider.

Takehara Kinjirou
It began with Joji's story! Takehara Joji, Kinjiro's original self, was played by Kobayashi Masaki-san. Director Yamaguchi Kyohei talked about the image of Joji, saying that he wanted to make a fisherman-family father who was well known for his stubbornness and scolding his son by calling him "You idiot!" Kobayashi-san stayed true to that image, playing a strait-laced but lovable Joji! His heartfelt cry of "I'm going to become a party person!" is truly the best! Joji is a stubborn old man, but even though he has lived a life of strict discipline, both with himself and with others, he envys the people who live freely.

The school Joji transferred to had more relaxed rules and the uniform style was quite free. The director asked for an image similar to that of a certain famous school drama, Gokusen(ごくせん), so the result was a school drama with a slightly Heisei era nostalgic feel to it! There was also a famous quote on the blackboard that reads, "Play instead of study ☆ Let's go out to town." (学ぶより遊べ☆街に出よう). A nice touch from the art director!


Here's a little inside story! Some of you may have wondered about Kinjiro's way of speaking with the suffix "~kko". Screenwriter Inoue Akiko took it from Producer Matsuura's catchphrase! During meetings, she noticed that Producer would often say, "It's like this ~kko", and decided to have Kinjiro use this distinctive catchphrase. I hadn't noticed the catchphrase at all. It was a great idea from Akiko-sensei...!!

Here's another inside story! While Hoeru was talking to Kinjiro, he was sucking some kind of flower. It was a scene that Akiko-sensei had been particular about including in the script from the beginning. When you were a child, did you ever find an azalea by the roadside and suck the sweet nectar from its base like you were blowing a trumpet? That's what this is! (*By the way, some azalea varieties are said to be poisonous! In this scene, we used a different flower instead of an azalea!) Because Hoeru is poor, he gets sugar from the flowers. In fact, it was also in episode 2 but had to be sadly cut due to time constraints... Fuyuno-san practiced this part many times before filming, so I'm glad it made it into the scene this time!


No-one
The voice behind the No-One was Furukawa Makoto-san.

Party People No-one made a giant mirror ball and anyone hit by its light was forced to wear party costumes and dance forever. Hoeru, Rikuo and Ryugi also fall prey to it, and end up in ridiculous costumes...! The scene where they were hit by the beam, only Rikuo embraced it while Hoeru and Ryugi tried to block it. I personally find it interesting. Be sure to also check out Hoeru's reaction to his new party costume! Maybe because he's usually poor and can't wear many different clothes, he was secretly grinning a little when his costume changes.

Following on from Leon's song, Smile Saki also choreographed the dance for this wek. At the director's request, she incorporated some fun elements that give a sense of the era, such as the nostalgic "Weird Old Man" choreography! Suit actor Teramoto Shogo-san and Kinjirou's actor Matsumoto Jin-san practiced the choreography so that their movements were in sync, and together they created a wonderful song!!!


Bridan
Two of Aii's mass-produced robots, their names were Oxypetalum and Banksia! This was published as behind-the-scenes information on the show's official X (formerly known as twitter) the other day, but since they were developed by Technical Captain Bouquet, they were given the name and marking of flowers for identification purposes!

The pilots of these two machines were the Five Brothers of the Fire Blizzard! The older brother's name was Star Five (Oxypetalum). He's voiced by Komada Wataru-san, who also does the battle voice! The younger brother's name is Mitsuta Five (Banksia). He's voiced by Takaoka Kaori-san!

Some of you may have noticed, but the Aiis' names had a motif as well. The "Star" in Star Five was inspired by the family sentai Chikyu Sentai Fiveman. The star (hoshi) was taken from their surname Hoshikawa (星川). The "Mitsuta" (ミツタ) in Mitsuta Five was inspired by Kyukyu Sentai GoGo Five, another family sentai. It was their surname "Tatsumi" (タツミ) written backwards.


Guests
Kageyama-kun, who tried to host a rooftop party, was played by Nakamura Otaro-san!

The person playing prosecutor Sakuraba was Omori Hiroto-san! Not only he has an mysterious aura in his acting, Omori-san has also worked as a voice actor. He has a deep, mellow voice and is also really good at recording action scenes!

Takehara Shinji (Kinjiro's son) was played by Takemori Sento-san.

Takehara Taishi (Kinjiro's grandson) was played by Seno Kazushi-san. He's from Yamaguchi Prefecture, just like Fuyuno-san who plays Hoeru. And what's more, he was once the number one archery practitioner in Japan!

譲二のお話から物語はスタート！

禽次郎の元の姿、猛原譲二を演じてくださったのは、
小林正樹さんです！
実は譲二のイメージについて、
山口恭平監督からは、
「ばっかもーん！」と息子を叱ることでおなじみ、国民的お魚一家のお父さんをもう少し頑固にさせた感じにしたいというお話もあり、
小林さんもそのイメージ作りに忠実に、堅物だけど愛らしい譲二を演じてくださいました！
「パーリーピーポーになる！」の心からの叫びは本当に最高です！

そして、譲二の指輪の契約の経緯も明かされましたね。
「頑固じじい」な譲二ですが、
これまで自分に対しても、他人に対しても、厳しく律する人生を歩んできたものの、
自由に生きている人たちに実は羨ましさを感じていた譲二。

ちなみに譲二の転校先は、校則ゆるめな学校という設定で、
制服スタイルも結構自由。

監督からは、某有名学園ドラマ・ご〇せんのイメージというオーダーがあり、
ちょっと懐かしさを感じる平成学園ドラマ感が演出されております！
黒板に「学ぶより遊べ☆街に出よう」という名言も。
美術さんの粋な演出です。

ここでウラ話をひとつ！
禽次郎の「～っこ」という口調、気になった方もいるのでは？？
これは、脚本・井上亜樹子さんが松浦Pの口癖からとったもの！
打ち合わせの際などに、松浦Pが「～の感じっこで」と言っているのに気づき、
その特徴的な口癖を禽次郎に言わせることにしたそうです。
私はその口癖に全く気付いていなかったので、亜樹子先生のさすがの着眼点でした……！！

ここでまたウラ話を！
吠が禽次郎と話す際に何やら花を吸っているのですが、
これは当初から亜樹子さんが脚本にいれていたこだわりシーン。
皆様小さい頃、道端のツツジを見つけて、ラッパを吹くように根元の甘い蜜を吸ったこと、ないでしょうか？あれです！！
（※ちなみにツツジは品種によっては毒があるとの事！撮影ではツツジではなく別の花を使用しております！）
吠は貧乏なので、花から糖分を摂取しているというツッコミどころ満載シーンなのですが、
実は、2話でもあったものが尺の都合で泣く泣くカットに。。。
撮影前の本読みでも、冬野さんが何度も練習した部分でもあり、
今回やっと登場できてよかったな～のシーンだったのでした！

そんなノーワンの声を担当くださったのは、
古川慎さんです！
パリピノーワンは巨大ミラーボールを出現させ、
その光に当たった人々は、強制的にパリピ衣装を着せられ永久に踊る羽目に！
吠・陸王・竜儀もその餌食になってとんでも衣装に……！そんなミラーボールビームに当たるシーン、
吠と竜儀はビームを防ごうとしているのに、陸王だけ浴びているのが個人的注目ポイントです。

ちなみに、吠のパリピ衣装になったリアクションにもぜひご注目いただきたい！
普段貧乏で、陸王のように色々な服を着れないからか、
今回衣装が変わってちょっとにやにやしているんです。

踊りは、野生のカンに引き続きSmile紗季先生が振付してくださいました！
監督のオーダーで、懐かしの「変なお～じさん」の振りなど、時代を感じられる面白さも取り入れていただきました！
スーツアクター寺本さんと松本さんには振りを動きや癖がそろうように練習していただき、素敵な音頭を2人で作り上げていただきました！！

アーイーたちの量産型ロボアイアイザー２体が！！

その名も、
「アイアイザー・オキシペタラム」そして、
「アイアイザー・バンクシア」です！

先日、番組公式Xでも裏話として掲載したのですが、
アイアイザーは、テクニカル隊長・ブーケが開発しているので、
花の名前とマークが識別用につけられています！

そんな2機のパイロットは、炎熱氷結（ファイヤブリザード）のファイブ兄弟です！
兄の名がスター・ファイブ（オキシペタラム）
声を担当いただいたのは、バトルボイスも担当くださっている
駒田航さん！
弟の名がミツタ・ファイブ（バンクシア）
声を担当いただいたのは、高岡香さん！

ちなみに、気づいた方もいらっしゃるかと思いますが、
今回もアーイーの名前にはモチーフが。
スター・ファイブのスターは、
「地球戦隊ファイブマン」をモチーフに、
変身者となる一家、星川家の星（スター）からとられており、
ミツタ・ファイブのミツタは、
「救急戦隊ゴーゴーファイブ」をモチーフに、
同じく変身者一家、巽（タツミ）家からとられています！（反対にしてミツタ！）

まず、屋上パーティーを主催しようとしてくれた陰山くん。
演じてくださったのは、中村旺太郎さんです！

さて、こちらのシーンで桜庭を演じていただいのは、大森寛人さん！
謎めいたお芝居もさることながら、
大森さんは声のお仕事もされている位、低音の渋い良い声をお持ちの方で、
アクションの声入れも本当に上手で、とてもカッコよく入れていただきました！

猛原信二(禽次郎の息子)を演じていただいたのは、竹森千人さん！

そして、猛原太志(禽次郎の孫)を演じていただいたのは、瀬野一至さん！
そんな瀬野さんは、吠役・冬野さんと同じく山口県出身！
しかもなんと、元弓道日本１だそうで！！！

Poor = eats flowers. Got it. I just rewatched that scene. That's ridiculously subtle? You see him reach for the flower and you can see him suck on it for like 2 seconds

Well the pacing was significantly better than last episode which is a relief. Green seems like an interesting character, it's nice that he's kinda realised that wanting to change and actually changing are very different things. Looking forward to where Inoue Jr. takes this, especially with the headcanon that green is her insert for her dad being a curmudgeonly old prick.

A little nervous about the anniversary gimmick since we gained Timeranger off-screen and Ryusoulger in one short fight with a nobody at the start before the actual plot started.

Next episode should be good, Black gets her introduction in earnest and she is the character I was most interested in before the show started.

Hopefully Sumino's story seems a lot more interesting. wonder what happened to her Sister and his her name Oto a reference to her civilian power potentially being super hearing.

Surprised that the first ring warrior wasnt beaten by the Gozyugers, bit of a letdown.

Hopefully Sumino's story seems a lot more interesting. wonder what happened to her Sister and his her name Oto a reference to her civilian power potentially being super hearing.

I think the secret sauce for me was that he looked back on his life with some regret. Maybe that's more an old person thing, but who hasn't found that relatable

I really enjoyed the plot for this one. Green's backstory reminds me of my favorite manga, ReLIFE, so I'm hoping he stays interesting for the rest of the series. I also enjoyed that the plot slowed down a bit compared to how rapid fire the first 3 were. I don't mind fast pace plots, but you need to give the audience a chance to breathe in-between. I also, admittedly, found it kinda funny that they can freely kick each other out of TegaSword at any time. Though, it's now got me wondering if we'll be getting a team Robo combo at some point, and how.

Looks like next week will be the first full team transformation. Hopefully it leads to questions about the plot finally being answered.

The blog didn't mentioned it, but this poster in old man Kinjirou's room was a reference to the cassette tape in Boonboomger 13, which in turn was also a reference to Hurricaneger. The song "Shinobi Love" was by Shimorenjaku Aroma (下連雀あろま) who appeared on Hurricaneger, and this was the song HurricaneBlue made famous in Hurricaneger.
