Suga played that way cooler than I thought he would

Pretty fun having Suga shoot through the car windows. Can you even show projectile weapons on western cartoons? I remember for a while it had to always be lasers or something scifi

Dang, there goes my theory about Hanto's master

While I did bristle at the clone arc which feels like the saggy middle of Gavv, having Suga go full mask off is pretty fun. The combination of his new form being powerful and swaggy to match his big personality with Shouma and Hanto both being weakened as a direct result of his manipulation is pretty good. Makes for a fun boss fight

But that said, I do hope they wrap it up next episode so that the rest of the series can go more into the Stomach family as the main antagonists

My theory, after seeing his hand shrivel up like that:

Suga is trying to make himself a new clone body.
I think the baby marked "K" on his computer is the new body he's making for himself, and he's using Hanto to perfect the ability for a human body to handle Granuto/Gochizo powers, using the Bitter Gavvs to perfect cloning new/replacement bodies, and then once he's got them both figured out, the new body will have his mind transferred into it somehow
that's why the baby is marked "K", because it's a new him, and his name is Kenzo

Also, I want the Breacookie gochizo. first non-legend rider gochizo I've wanted, so I may actually buy the Bake Magnum toy, as well as try to get the alternate face version from the bonus packs of gochizos they sell individually.

hey, rewatch the episode title drop at 3:48. A zakuchips is about to do the title, but gets run over by Sachika. So after that the cookies does the title after lol. What a little detail that I totally misssed the first time

Edit: I'm so dumb, the Agents are color coded. If I knew that then, it was obvious the hit on the master was placed by Nyelv...

See, I knew the hit was ordered by Nyelv, because I caught on to the agents being color coded, but for the longest time I just assumed the case was:

1) Agent saw Hanto and his master discussing Granutos
2) Nyelv decides to silence a human looking into Granutos
3) the Agent sent that Granuto after the wrong guy
4) Nyelv just never knew he had the wrong guy because he got the bottom half so never saw a face, and also never saw them in person to begin with.

See, it never made sense to me why the press was broken in half, that's why I came up with t he bonkers theory that I had. Now it makes sense because it was left as evidence for Hanto to motivate him to become Valen

I swear that in the back of my mind I did wonder if his master was killed to push Hanto into becoming a Rider, but I never wrote that theory on the posts I checked around that time so I don't have any way of proving it

Also, Suga's hand just shriveling up gives real The Substance vibes lol

Hanto, who wanted to kill all Granutos, learned for the first time that not all Granutos are bad. This is the first time he interacted with a Granuto in a friendly way.

Suga's Lullaby
When Dark Shouma called Suga "Dad", Suga said "I'm not your dad" with mixed a momentary smile and a cold expression. Suga also spoke to the suffering Hanto without any empathy and even cutting him off mid-sentence. I'm in awe with the depth of talent that Asanuma-san has, showing a wide range of expressions that were all still very fitting for Suga.

When Hanto ran out of the lab, he showed an impatience expression for the first time. If Hanto had accepted the BraeCookie Gochizou... what would have happened?

What was memorable this time was Suga's lullaby. During the script meeting, we decided to use a foreign song, so we had him hum the Brahms' Lullaby.

Suga's character song, "Considerations on the Evolution of Subjects" (被験体の進化における考察) , is currently available for download. The lyrics includes something about "Sleep." It also seems the "subjects" sang in the song are not alone. Be sure to enjoy this part along with the main story!


Henshin! The freshly baked Bake

...you can almost hear the jingles, but this is not it. Instead of using a gear, he transformed by setting the Cookie Gochizou into Bake Magnum.



The idea of the word "henshin" doesn't come to Suga's mind right away. It's typical of Suga, who doesn't place importance on the word that all Kamen Riders hold dear and is only interested in demonstrating his technology. He's so Eerie, and I mean that as a compliment. As the name suggests, Kamen Rider Bake transforms after going through a baking sequence. The armor's pattern is asymmetrical, like a cookie sprinkled with chocolate chips.

The suit actor is Kitamura Kai-san. Not only is he similar in height to Asanuma-san, he's also left-handed like Asanuma-san (Suga)! As such, Kamen Rider Bake mainly fights with the Bake Magnum in his left hand.

Kamen Rider Bake was brought to you by the tag team Kitamura-san, who had a wealth of stage experience, and Asanuma-san, who had written and directed many stage productions. They worked together as a team with extraordinary enthusiasm, reading the lines in advance and even having Asanuma-san voicing the lines himself on set while deciding the movements.

Suga's easygoing personality was still there, even as a Rider. Bake's voice recording showed him talking throughout the action, ad-libbing to match the footage. Just because he had became a Rider didn't mean he changed the way he speaks, and the way he was so nonchalant was actually quite frightening.


Rush to the Dente Hospital
Hanto is getting shirtless a lot. There are many scenes like this with him. He has accumulated so much experience from acting unconscious and seeing things he shouldn't have seen.

Treatment consumes electricity! So the Gochizos generate electricity with running in hamsters wheels!

酸賀さんの子守唄

ふたりのダークショウマと話しているのを絆斗に目撃されてしまった酸賀さん。
酸賀をお父さんと迫るダークショウマにかけた「お前たちのお父さんじゃあ～、ない」という一瞬のにこやかな表情と冷酷さを入り混ぜた台詞といい、苦しそうな絆斗に寄り添うでもなく普段の調子で話しかけながら追い討ちをかける感じといい、色々な表情を見せながら全部が（酸賀だ…）となる浅沼さんの引き出しの数と深さにただ脱帽。

しかし絆斗が研究室を飛び出して一人になると初めて焦りのような表情を見せます。
仮にブレイクッキーゴチゾウを絆斗が受け取っていたら…どうなっていたんでしょうね。

今回、印象的だったのは酸賀の子守唄。
脚本打合せで海外のものにしようということになり、ブラームスの子守唄を口ずさんでもらいました。

好評配信中の酸賀ちゃんキャラクターソング「被験体の進化における考察」でも、「眠れ」という歌詞を入れていただいております。
ちなみに歌われている「被験体」はひとりではなさそうです。
このあたりも本編と合わせて味わってみてくださいね…！

変身。焼きたてベイク

チェンジ全開！

恐竜パワー！

…の名乗りが聞こえてきそうですが違うんですな。
ギアではなくクッキーのゴチゾウをベイクマグナムにセットして変身。

「変身」という言葉がすぐ出てこない、というのは浅沼さん発信のアイデア。
あらゆる仮面ライダーが大事にしている言葉に重きを置いていない、技術の実証にしか興味がない酸賀らしいですね。不気味（褒めてます）。
名前のとおり焼き上がるようなシークエンスを経て変身をとげたのは、仮面ライダーベイク。
チョコチップがちりばめられているクッキーらしく、模様の入り方は左右非対称なんです。

変身後のスーツアクターを担当するのは北村海さん。
背格好が浅沼さんと近いだけでなく、左利きというのも一緒（あと北村さんもとってもイイお声です）！
ということでおもにベイクマグナムを左手に持って戦っています。

舞台経験豊富な北村さんと、多数の舞台で作・演出を手がける浅沼さんのタッグで届ける仮面ライダーベイク。
事前にセリフ読み上げの声を共有していたり、現場でも実際に浅沼さんが声を当てながら動きを決めるカットがあったりと、二人三脚・並々ならぬ熱量で臨んでいただきました。

酸賀の飄々とした感じはライダーになっても健在。
映像に合わせてアドリブを入れながら、アクションの中でもずーっとしゃべり続けるベイクのアフレコ。
ライダーになったからといって特段声の出し方を変えるでもなく飄々と迫ってくるのが、逆に怖いです。

意識を失っている芝居と、見ちゃいけないもの見ちゃった芝居の経験値がこんなにたまることあるんだ。

Goddamn, Rakia just got dethroned as the King of Aura with Bake's debut. Grappling Shouma's sword with his legs, then shooting him in the chest to make him let go is dirty as hell and I loved it. I'm really hoping Suga doesn't get killed next episode, because his actor is such a delight.
