Re: Grongi language in cool guy
Well, very similar. They both have the same concept as their basis. Though not exactly the same, there is more to the Grongi language than there is to Al Bhed, but yes same sorta idea.Dengar wrote:So, it's like Al Bhed?

So how do they express prime numbers? o_O;ZERO_ninja wrote:Grongi also doesn't have any double digit numbers, in Grongi you need to say "9x2" for "18" etc.

Through addition, presumably. Like, "9+4" for "13".FinalFenix wrote:So how do they express prime numbers? o_O;

Re: Kamen Rider Kuuga 01-02 DC Released
Basically yes, there is a system they use starting with 9:Kamen Rider Ookalf wrote:Through addition, presumably. Like, "9+4" for "13".FinalFenix wrote:So how do they express prime numbers? o_O;
10=9+1
11=9+2
12=9+3
18=9x2
20=9x2+2
300=9×9×3+9×6+3
300 is like this becuase 9x9=81 but multiplying by 9 again goes beyond 300, so 9x9x3 = 243 (anything higher than 3 goes beyond 300) so then need 57. 9+ any number between 1-8 is too low and 9x any number higher than 6 is too high, so 9x6 = 54 so just 3 left to add. So number beyond 9 always start by multiplying or adding to 9 to get as close to the number as possible and then adding what remains by again multiplying or adding to 9.

Re: Grongi language in Kuuga
Seems ridiculously complicated for a TV show language, but then again, there are people that speak Elvish and Klingon, so who am I to judge?

Re: Grongi language in Kuuga
First I want to say: that Grongi language has something mysterious, so at first I didn't understand what they were talking about. I have seen the whole series and I still like it, although I didn't understand everything (I'm not Japanese and at that time I didn't know that much Japanese to understand). But I kinda like that language.

Re: Grongi language in Kuuga
After reading this thread, my OCD about not knowing what the Grongi were saying is relaxed.
Watching Kuuga thanks to TV-N and some one on Veoh who kindly subbed the series.

Re: Grongi language in Kuuga
I am able to understand some of the Grongi language....at least, I just assume that I understand some of it. lol. When certain situations are happening and grongi is spoken, I translate it in my mind into what would normally be said in Japanese in that situation... like "todome da!" etc. haha
